Le Ren, Ella Korth
_____LE REN_____
Le Ren's close-to-the-bone, heartbreak folk songs seem, at first, to tap into a shared musical memory. A melody swirls forward and you're just sure it's known to the back of you mind; was it in a movie you saw, some classic mid-60's set piece? Maybe it's something you heard as a kid in the backseat of your mom's Cutlass, or the shotgun seat of your own. But before you can zero in through the fog, your heart is torn apart by her voice - rich, direct and mellifluous - steering you through these slowburn tunes about real-life loss.
Lauren Spear, the artist behind Le Ren, created a physical quilt to mirror the assemblage pf stories that comprise her album 'Leftovers': a coming-of-age collage that collects over four years of past experiences and finds their present meaning. "When I think leftovers, I think of things that have been cast aside," she says. "When they're picked back up or remembered, they can be repurposed...'Leftovers' came to mean a collection of feelings and moments of the past that still feel relevant to my present."

_____ELLA KORTH_____
Ella Korth is a romantic soul with a craving for sweet melodies and driving rhythm. Growing up in a family heavily immersed in the acoustic music scene created a lifelong passion for both bluegrass and old-time music, which Ella brings to her craft. Recently, Ella played on Juno Award winner Trent Freeman's EP alongside Grammy award winner John Reischman, banjo extrodinaire Allison de Groot, and Alan Mackie. Ella also performs as a side musician, and has performed with Trent Freeman, in the Sam Tudor band, and will perform with sing-songwriters Madeleine Roger (Winnipeg) and Le Ren (Montreal) in the coming months.
Passionate about songwriting and co-writing. Ella Korth has co-written with Ajay Friese, accomplished musician and actor (Riverdale), and won a Kootenay Music award for “Best Roots Song” in 2018 with Talel McBriar. Growing up, Ella recorded and performed in the duo Ella & Talel with her friend and fellow musician Talel McBriar. The duo performed with the ViaRail Artists on Board program in the summer of 2019, playing on the train from Halifax to Vancouver. Ella has had the opportunity to play in many beautiful places, including the Capitol Theatre (Nelson, BC), Tiny Lights Festival (Ymir, BC), and Oly Old Time Festival in Olympia Washington. Now based in Vancouver (Coast Salish Territory), Ella is working on her debut EP and performing around Western Canada.
