Rotten Apple Ruckus tickled their strings for so long that they were kicked out of the farmhouse. They started hooting and yelling in the streets and farmers markets around Victoria B.C. until they were put upon a stage. They were shoved into an old van and thrown all over Cascadia. If you have dirty eardrums, they will use their bucket bass and washboard to scrub them clean with a wash of sounds from the 20’s-40’s. A tumultuous smattering of banjo, steel guitar, trumpet, banjolele will toss your toes into a boogie and a frolic. Get your jug, skiffle, blues, spasm, and ragtime pants on!

With a unique influence stretching from east to west, each Toad has their own persona and brings something unique to the project. Ranging from the sounds of old ragtime and Appalachian, to gypsy-jazz noise, Toads on a Wire has fused together their own unique styles into a cornucopia of sounds that will be sure to get your legs leaping and boots stompin into a full blown dancing bonanza!

Kurt Loewen is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist currently residing in Calgary, Alberta. He has spent much of his career in music writing, performing and traveling with The Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra. His debut solo record, Heavy & Low, is a collection of songs about relationships; love, change, and moving on. A sonically disparate album compared to previous projects, Heavy & Low is a candid and frank offering speaking to the challenges and beauty in the connections we hold close.
